Wet area tiles, skirtings and dishwasher space

This week (w/c 23rd Nov) the wet area tiles were done. It cost us an extra $200 because the tiles were are bit fiddly, but we didn't mind as long as we got them the way we wanted them.

Also, the kitchen cupboards have been fixed so that there is now a dishwasher space. Yipeeee! No washing up for me :) Also loving the chocolate splashback.

Also, all of the skirting boards have been installed and the shelving built inside our cupboards.

Kitchen and bathroom vanities - and much, much more!

Well, finally some progress. Sorry for no update last week peeps, but the only thing that was done was the cornices were installed. Not very exciting me thinks and did not warrant a blog.

This week, on the other hand, has been rather busy. The guys have been there all week putting the boards under the eaves etc. Think they will probably finish tomorrow (20th Nov).

Our gables and fineals have been fitted. Never fear! The timber will not be pink when it's all finished. It will match in with the roof tiles (monument).

The wet areas have been water proofed and internal doors are starting to go on. Skirting boards and architraves are starting to be installed. Tiles are delivered and should start laying any time now.

I love our pretty stripy doors and I am very glad that we upgraded to bigger skirtings and architraves.

The downpipes have been connected - slight problem with the ones where the patio is going to be. They shouldn't have been connected yet, so will have to be ripped out and repositioned. Some bricks that have been drilled into will also have to be replaced.

The kitchen has been installed. Looks so beautiful. Just the look we were going for, but with one slight problem - there is no space for the dishwasher - silly sausages! Some of the cupboards will need to be removed and redesigned.

The breakfast bar - sorry about the photos - it was too light to get a good one. All those windows are a curse, you know....hehehe.

The main part of the kitchen. The diswasher is supposed to go to the left of the cooktop so the four cupboards underneath will be ripped out and replaced with three and a dishwasher space.

The bathroom vanities have also been installed, with another slight problem in the ensuite. The sliding door does not fit with the vanity so it will have to be moved to the other side of the wall. This means that it will slightly cut in to our WIR shelving, but only about 10-15cm and we can live with that.

Bricking and plastering done

Very impressed with the progress this week. The bricks have all been laid and we are really happy with the progress.

Not sure what is happening this week as our site supervisor was away on Friday when we usually get our update. Really pleased to see how quickly things are moving along :)

Patio problems

We have had a bit of trouble with our patio. Specifically, we have asked Coral the whole way through the process whether we would be able to attach 2 lights and a fan to our outdoor patio. The whole time they have assured us that it would be fine. Until now........

When we met the electrician on site he said that it would not be possible and we would have to have lights under the eaves and no fan. We were not happy with that so we contacted Coral who obtained a quote for the patio upgrade. The quote was just over $3500 and they wanted us to pay $2500. Not happy Jan!!!!

Anyhoo, I wrote an email to Coral saying (very diplomatically, of course) that this was not on and that we expected them to pay all costs as it was their mistake. J said that I must have lit a firecracker up someones butt (he's such a keeper!), because less than 48 hours later we had a call from Coral saying that they would bear all costs. Yay for us!!! A win for the little guys :)

Fascia, Guttering, Windows and Roof tiles

This week has been quite eventful. First the fascia and guttering went on. We chose monument colour to complement our roof tiles (barramundi).

The windows were delivered (only one got broken) and the corner bath has been installed.

The roof tiles went on but they still need to be bondcreted. The weather is a bit dicey up here so that is probably why that hasn't happened yet.

Next the windows started to go in. For some reason I found this to be the most exciting bit yet. I kept walking from room to room saying 'I LOVE IT!!!'. I love our windows because most of them start from the floor and are quite big. I wasn't took keen on the white frames at first but now I am convinced it will work really well with the rest of our colour scheme (fingers crossed).

The bricks have now been delivered and they start those on Monday (2nd Nov). The gyprock is starting on Wednesday. We will be at lock up stage in no time!

Roof trusses and front door

Here are some pics of our finished roof trusses. You can see where the gable is going to be above the front door. I love our front door, it is going to be stained a Jarrah colour and the glass is mottled cathedral glass.

Sorry people

Sorry everyone we are a bit behind in our blog. Had some suprise arrivals last weekend which have taken over our lives for the last week. I can't resist putting some non-house pics in for your enjoyment.....

We had 2 black and white females, 1 black, brown and white tricolour female, 1 blue and white male and 1 blue, tan and white male. Does anyone want to buy a border collie?!
